Railway authorities have extended the duration of track maintenance work at the Sadar Bazar railway crossing (LC-247/C) in Sandila following disruptions caused by rainfall. Commuters and local residents will need to exercise patience as the disruption continues longer than initially planned. The repair work originally necessitated a 35-hour closure starting at 8:00 AM on September 2, 2026. It was initially scheduled for completion by 7:00 PM on September 3, 2026. Due to the weather-related delays, the project is now expected to be finalized by the evening of Friday, September 4, 2026. The ongoing track maintenance has significantly impacted local traffic, necessitating diversions managed by the local administration and traffic police.
Officials have advised motorists to utilize alternative routes, including the LC-248/C crossing and the Begamganj railway crossing (LC-246/C), which connects via Baroni Road to the Lucknow-Hardoi highway.
These diversions have resulted in increased traffic congestion, particularly near the Baroni crossing. Commuters traveling through the region during this extended period should factor in extra travel time and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid major delays.
Further complicating the transit situation in the area, the construction of an overbridge remains underway at the Saint Theresa bypass railway crossing.
This ongoing construction continues to limit available passage for commuters throughout the repair period. Local authorities are closely monitoring the situation to manage the traffic flow as smoothly as possible until all maintenance and construction works reach completion.
