Sandila Sadar Bazar level crossing reopens after track maintenance

Normal traffic movement has been successfully restored at the Sandila Sadar Bazar railway crossing following the completion of essential track maintenance work. The crucial railway gate, designated as level crossing LC-247/C, was thrown open to the public after remaining temporarily closed to facilitate vital engineering and overhauling tasks.
- Closure Duration: The crossing remained shut for approximately 35 hours starting from 8:00 a.m. on September 2, 2026, and reopened on the evening of September 3, 2026.
- Weather Hurdles: Maintenance work faced a brief threat of delay due to heavy rainfall, but quick progress ensured the reopening was not pushed to September 4.
- Traffic Management: Small and heavy vehicles were smoothly diverted through alternative routes to prevent severe congestion during the shutdown period.
Maintenance and Coordination Details
The temporary closure was officially coordinated by the Assistant Divisional Engineer-I of Northern Railways, Hardoi, who kept the Sandila Tehsil administration informed of all logistical requirements. Over 50 percent of the planned overhauling project was completed rapidly by September 3, defying adverse weather conditions brought on by heavy rainfall that could have otherwise extended the deadline.Leveraging the temporary closure of the tracks, the local municipality also undertook civic improvements by successfully installing drainage pipes for better stormwater management in the area. This joint initiative ensured that public utility work was maximized during the traffic block.
