The Saraiya Railway Overbridge (ROB), a vital infrastructure project designed to streamline travel between Kanpur and Lucknow, is nearing its final stages of completion. Officials have confirmed that the four-lane bridge is expected to be ready for vehicular traffic by October 31, 2026.

Final Finishing Touches Underway

Current efforts on-site are focused on the final installation of:

  • View cutters
  • Anti-glare boards

The Setu Nigam (Bridge Corporation) has formally submitted a status report to the Unnao district administration, confirming that all remaining construction tasks are on schedule to conclude by the end of the month. This follows previous coordination with the Indian National Highways Authority (NHAI) to ensure all requirements are satisfied before the official handover.

A Major Engineering Feat

The project, estimated at a cost exceeding 150 crore rupees, involved significant collaboration between multiple agencies. A key technical milestone was achieved by the Railways, which successfully completed the precise placement of 24 girders over active railway lines to facilitate the bridge's structure.

Boosting Connectivity and Regional Growth

Once the Saraiya Railway Overbridge opening is complete, it will serve as a critical alternative route for commuters. The bridge is expected to:

  • Effectively reduce heavy traffic congestion within urban areas.
  • Alleviate significant pressure on the Jajmau Ganga Bridge.

Furthermore, this infrastructure is deemed essential for the rapid development of the Trans Ganga City in Unnao, a massive project spanning 1144.13 acres. The Divisional Commissioner has corroborated the timeline, confirming that the bridge is poised for public use by the end of October.
