SECR Adds Extra Coaches to Jan Shatabdi & Hasdeo Express

The South East Central Railway (SECR) has stepped up to manage the heavy passenger influx expected during the upcoming festive season. To prevent overcrowding and ensure a smoother journey for commuters, the railway administration has announced the temporary addition of extra coaches to several high-demand train services.
Relief for Raigarh-Gondia Jan Shatabdi Passengers
One of the primary beneficiaries of this augmentation is the Raigarh-Gondia Jan Shatabdi Express (12069/12070). To accommodate the surge in travelers, one additional Second Seating coach will be attached to the service.
The schedule for this extra coach is as follows:
- Gondia to Raigarh: The extra coach will be operational from October 13 to November 30, 2026.
- Raigarh to Gondia: The service will include the additional coach from October 14 to December 1, 2026.
Hasdeo Express Gets Extra General Coach
In another move to ease the festive rush, the Raipur-Korba Hasdeo Express (18249/18250) will also see an increase in capacity. One additional General coach will be added to this service to assist unreserved passengers.
The temporary augmentation for the Hasdeo Express will follow this timeline:
- From Raipur: Between October 11 and October 24, 2026.
- From Korba: Between October 12 and October 25, 2026.
Strict Ticket Checking and ID Requirements
As part of the festive preparations, a nationwide special ticket checking campaign is currently underway and will continue through October 31, 2026. Railway officials have issued a stern advisory to all passengers to ensure compliance with travel rules.
Passengers are reminded to carry original identification and valid eligibility documents during their journey. This is particularly crucial for those traveling on tickets issued under special concessions or specific reservation quotas to avoid heavy penalties.
