SECR GM Inspects Amrit Bharat Stations: Raigarh to Champa

South East Central Railway (SECR) General Manager Tarun Prakash recently conducted a comprehensive inspection of the railway stations being transformed under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The inspection, carried out on October 1, 2026, focused on the Raigarh to Champa section to evaluate ongoing development projects and the quality of infrastructure designed to enhance passenger amenities.
Major Upgrades at Champa Station
A primary focus of the visit was the Champa railway station, which has seen significant modernization. The station has undergone extensive renovation work at an approximate cost of ₹8 crore to improve its facilities and overall passenger experience.
To further address the needs of commuters, the railway administration has sanctioned several additional improvements for Champa station, including:
- Widening of the Foot Over Bridge (FOB) to improve passenger movement.
- Installation of new lifts to ensure better accessibility.
- The establishment of a new ticket counter at the station's second entry point.
Engaging with Local Representatives
During the inspection tour, Tarun Prakash met with key public representatives, including MLA Vyas Kashyap and Congress District President Rajesh Agrawal. The meeting served as a platform to discuss local railway issues and the specific infrastructure demands of the region.
The representatives highlighted various requirements for both Champa and Janjgir-Naila stations. These discussions were instrumental in identifying the necessary upgrades to ensure the stations effectively serve the local population and travelers passing through the section.
The Vision of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme
The ongoing works are part of the broader Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, a major initiative aimed at modernizing railway hubs across the country. The scheme prioritizes the seamless integration of stations with their surrounding urban areas through several key focus areas:
- Improved station access and better-designed circulating areas.
- Enhanced waiting halls for improved passenger comfort.
- Modernized sanitation and hygiene facilities.
- Advanced passenger information systems for real-time updates.
