SECR GM Inspects Champa Station for Amrit Bharat Upgrades

Tarun Prakash, the General Manager of South East Central Railway (SECR) Bilaspur, recently conducted a high-level inspection of several stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The inspection, which took place between October 1 and October 2, 2026, focused heavily on the Raigarh to Champa section, specifically looking at the progress of development at Champa Railway Station.

Major Infrastructure Boost for Champa

Champa Railway Station has already seen significant transformation, with renovation works carried out at an approximate cost of ₹8 crore. During the visit, the General Manager reviewed the current infrastructure and the progress of ongoing development initiatives aimed at modernizing the station.

Following discussions with local representatives, several new projects have been officially sanctioned for Champa to improve passenger movement and convenience. These upcoming improvements include:

  • Widening of the Foot Over Bridge (FOB): To ensure smoother and safer passage for commuters.
  • Installation of additional lifts: To enhance accessibility for elderly passengers and those with disabilities.
  • New Ticket Counter: A new counter will be established at the second entry point to reduce congestion.
  • Enhanced Station Facilities: General upgrades to improve the overall station environment.

Addressing Local Demands

During the inspection tour, local leaders including MLA Vyas Kashyap and Congress District President Rajesh Agrawal met with the General Manager. They presented various local demands and raised specific issues concerning both the Champa and Janjgir-Naila railway stations. The officials reviewed these requests, which subsequently led to the approval of the additional sanctioned works at Champa.
