Launched in October 2021, the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan seeks to coordinate infrastructure project planning and implementation to reduce logistical costs and drive regional development. Within the Chakradharpur division, Tatanagar station's redevelopment remains a key priority. However, ADRM Anoop Patel expressed dissatisfaction regarding delays during reviews held on August 20 and August 22, 2026, directing officials to expedite completion without compromising on structural standards.
Capacity Enhancements and Tenders
To tackle operational bottlenecks, the division is actively investing in vital capacity enhancements. The railway administration issued approximately six crore rupees in tenders on August 11, 2026, dedicated to signaling and telecommunications upgrades. Additionally, plans include the construction of additional loop lines running from Manikui to Maluka yard, which will significantly help to reduce train congestion on the outer tracks.
National Expansion Under Gati Shakti
On a broader national scale, Indian Railways has approved 100 new projects for the 2025-26 fiscal year under the Gati Shakti master plan. This massive undertaking represents an investment exceeding 1.5 trillion rupees and covers over 6,000 kilometers of network across the country. Highlighting local progress, General Manager Anil Kumar Mishra previously confirmed that the Tatanagar station redevelopment is advancing with the goal of delivering a modernized terminal building within the next 30 months.
