SER Alert: 50+ Trains Cancelled in Chakradharpur Division

The South Eastern Railway (SER) has announced a massive disruption to train services within the Chakradharpur division in Jharkhand. Due to critical infrastructure and non-interlocking work, over 50 trains will face cancellations, while several others will be diverted, affecting travel through mid-January 2027.

Massive Cancellations at Jharsuguda Passenger Yard

From November 27 to December 17, 2026, non-interlocking work at the Jharsuguda Passenger Yard will lead to the complete suspension of 45 trains. Passengers should take note of the following major cancellations:

Other services facing partial cancellations include the Hyderabad-Raxaul Express, Tirupati-Raxaul Express, Vasco da Gama-Jasidih Express, Nanded-Santragachi Express, Tatanagar-Itwari Express, and Pune-Santragachi Express.

Mega Blocks and Diversions in Sini-Rajkharsawan Section

In a separate phase of maintenance, the railway will implement mega blocks every Tuesday and Friday between November 24, 2026, and January 15, 2027. This is to facilitate track renovation in the Sini-Rajkharsawan section.

These blocks will lead to several route diversions, most notably for the Yog Nagari Rishikesh-Puri Utkal Express (18478/18477). The 18478 service will follow an alternative route via Ib-Jharsuguda Road-Sambalpur City-Angul-Cuttack, while the return 18477 service will travel through Cuttack-Angul-Sambalpur City-Jharsuguda Road-Ib. The Kalinga Utkal Express and South Bihar Express are also subject to route changes.

Widespread Impact on Major Routes

The ongoing work, which extends into South East Central Railway (SECR) territory, primarily impacts the high-traffic Howrah-Mumbai route. Travelers across Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh are likely to experience delays or service changes.

Railway authorities have strongly advised all passengers to verify the current status of their trains via official channels before starting their journey.
