Shakur Basti New Terminal to Ease Delhi Passenger Congestion
The Shakur Basti new terminal in Delhi features new platforms and direct Rohtak Road access to ease congestion and improve Punjab connectivity.

The Shakur Basti new terminal is set to provide significant relief to commuters in Delhi by improving accessibility and reducing congestion. This newly constructed terminal has been completed to significantly improve passenger accessibility and ease traffic congestion at the station premises.
One of the primary benefits of this new infrastructure is that it allows commuters to enter and exit the station directly from Rohtak Road. This provides a much smoother transition for travelers and includes dedicated, ample space for vehicle parking, addressing a major convenience issue for station visitors.
Enhanced Platforms and Punjab Connectivity
In its first phase of operation, the terminal features two newly built platforms. These infrastructure enhancements are strategically designed to facilitate better train operations, particularly for services heading toward Bathinda and other important destinations in Punjab.
Poorva Express Extension and Festive Special Trains
To help decongest the New Delhi railway station, the Howrah-New Delhi Poorva Express (train numbers 12303, 12381, and their return services) has been extended to terminate at Shakur Basti, offering a vital alternative for passengers.
Additionally, to manage the heavy surge in passenger volume expected during the festive season of Diwali and Chhath, Indian Railways has announced several special services to ensure smoother travel:
- Malda Town – Shakur Basti (03439/03440): A special service specifically for festive travelers.
- Shakur Basti – Mansi Junction: Unreserved festival special trains to accommodate the holiday rush.
