Ministry of Railways Approves Construction of New Washing Pit at Sheikhpura Station

The Ministry of Railways has officially granted approval for the construction of a washing pit at Sheikhpura railway station, marking a significant development for the region's rail infrastructure. Following this long-awaited authorization, construction activities are expected to commence shortly on the vacant land available within the station premises. The project announcement was finalized as of September 3, 2026.

The installation of this facility is designed to enhance the maintenance and sanitation capabilities of the station. Once operational, trains originating from or terminating at Sheikhpura will undergo cleaning and routine maintenance directly on-site. Previously, these locomotives had to be transported to larger hubs for servicing. By decentralizing these operations, the new pit will effectively reduce the operational burden on the Kiul, Gaya, and Rajgir railway stations.
