South Eastern Railway partially restores local train services amid yard remodeling work

Indian Railways has partially restored select local train services for passengers travelling through the Kharagpur division as non-interlocking work progresses at the Jaleswar yard. The Kharagpur division has announced revised train operations to ensure smooth passenger commute between Howrah and Jaleswar while infrastructure upgradation work continues. Train number 68007 Howrah-Jaleswar MEMU will short-terminate at Belda station from August 26 to September 1, 2026. Similarly, train number 68002 Jaleswar-Howrah MEMU will short-originate from Belda station from August 27 to September 2, 2026. However, passengers must note that some services will remain cancelled during this period due to ongoing technical works. Train number 68047 Kharagpur-Belda MEMU and train number 68048 Belda-Kharagpur MEMU are cancelled from August 26 to September 1 and August 27 to September 2 respectively.
Alternative Arrangements For Passengers
Railway authorities have stated that these temporary modifications are essential to facilitate safety-related non-interlocking infrastructure works at Jaleswar. The alternative train arrangements have been planned to maintain direct connectivity with Howrah and minimize travel inconvenience for regular daily commuters. Passengers are advised to check their train schedules and plan their journeys accordingly before heading to the stations during this maintenance window.
