South Eastern Railway Hits Record ₹403 Crore Scrap Sale
South Eastern Railway achieves a record-breaking ₹403.86 crore in scrap sales, surpassing targets by 68% and leading the nation in scrap disposal.

South Eastern Railway (SER) has etched its name in the history books by achieving a monumental milestone in scrap sales. The zone has successfully generated a staggering ₹403.86 crore through the sale of scrap materials, marking the fastest achievement in its history.
A Massive Leap in Revenue
This record-breaking feat represents a significant growth of 55.37% compared to the same period last year. Furthermore, the achievement has soared past the proportional target of ₹240 crore set for the current financial year by a massive 68.28%.
With this performance, South Eastern Railway has become the only zonal railway in the country to cross the ₹400 crore mark in scrap sales during this financial year. This success is a testament to the zone's efficient scrap disposal, revenue enhancement, and commitment to maintaining cleanliness within railway premises.
October's Extraordinary Contribution
The month of October played a pivotal role in this unprecedented success. Under the 'Swachhata Vishesh Abhiyan 6.0' initiative, the railway had set a sales target of ₹49 crore for the month. However, the zone far exceeded expectations by recording sales worth ₹90.43 crore. This stands as the highest scrap sale recorded by any zonal railway during this specific campaign.
The Vision of 'Zero Scrap'
The success of this massive drive is attributed to the strategic guidance of South Eastern Railway's General Manager, Anil Kumar Jain. His leadership has focused on a clear and ambitious goal: achieving a 'Zero Scrap' status across the zone.
Under his direction, several key actions were implemented to streamline the process:
- Systematic identification and detailed documentation of scrap across all railway units.
- Accelerated and organized disposal processes to maximize revenue.
- Extensive cleaning and identification drives in depots, workshops, and sheds.
- Effective coordination between the stores department and other vital railway units.
The achievement reflects the zone's commitment to efficient scrap disposal, revenue enhancement, and maintaining cleanliness within railway premises.
Cleanliness and Efficiency Combined
The drive was not just about revenue; it was also about optimizing space and maintaining hygiene. Most work units within the South Eastern Railway have now achieved the 'Zero Scrap' status. Following the identification and sale of accumulated materials, the physical removal of scrap from various locations has also been largely completed, ensuring cleaner and more organized railway yards and workshops.
