Sri Ganganagar Blast: Railway Track Damaged, Trains Cancelled
A suspected blast on the Anupgarh-Suratgarh line near Sri Ganganagar has damaged tracks and led to train cancellations. Investigation is underway.

A major investigation has been launched following a suspected explosion that caused significant damage to the railway tracks on the Anupgarh-Suratgarh line in Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar district. The blast occurred late Tuesday night, November 3, 2026, near Village 50 GB, prompting authorities to immediately secure the site and suspend rail services.
Severe Structural Damage to Tracks
The explosion was powerful enough to cause substantial destruction to the railway infrastructure. Witnesses and officials reported that the blast left a crater nearly two feet deep beneath the tracks. The damage included:
- The destruction of two cement railway sleepers.
- The exposure of internal steel reinforcement bars.
In a narrow escape, the incident took place approximately 45 minutes after a passenger train had successfully passed through the section between 8:30 PM and 9:00 PM.
Service Disruptions and Cancellations
Due to the breach in the tracks, railway officials have suspended services on the affected line to prevent any potential accidents. This has resulted in the cancellation of the Anupgarh-Bathinda train, which was scheduled to depart at 6:00 AM on Wednesday, November 4, 2026.
Police Investigation and Security Response
Sri Ganganagar Superintendent of Police (SP) Harishankar has addressed rumors regarding the motive behind the blast. While there were initial reports attempting to link the incident to the seizure of 7.5 to 7.75 kilograms of RDX and weapons in the border region in mid-October 2026, SP Harishankar has explicitly ruled out any connection between those seizures and the current track damage.
Despite the clarification, security measures have been heightened across the region. A coordinated probe is currently underway involving several specialized units, including:
- Local police from the Ramsinghpur station.
- The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).
- The Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
- Railway authorities.
To uncover the exact cause of the explosion, teams from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) have been deployed to the site to collect evidence. Authorities have urged the public to avoid speculation while the formal investigation continues.
