Sri Ganganagar Railway Explosion: Tracks Damaged; Trains Cancelled

A major investigation has been launched following a suspected Sri Ganganagar railway explosion on the Anupgarh-Suratgarh line in Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar district. The blast, which occurred late Tuesday night on November 3, 2026, has caused significant damage to the railway infrastructure and led to the immediate suspension of rail services in the area.

Damage Near 50 GB Village

The incident took place in the Ramsinghpur area near 50 GB village between 9:45 PM and 10:30 PM. Remarkably, the explosion occurred approximately 45 minutes after a passenger train had successfully traversed the section. While no casualties were reported, the impact was severe:

  • A crater nearly two feet deep was formed on the track.
  • Two cement railway sleepers were damaged.

Multi-Agency Investigation Underway

Authorities have cordoned off the site as multiple specialized teams work to determine the cause of the blast. The investigation involves a wide range of agencies, including:

  • Local Police and the Railway Protection Force (RPF)
  • Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) teams
  • Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS)
  • Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS)
  • Criminal Investigation Department (CID)

Sri Ganganagar Superintendent of Police (SP) Harishankar stated that it is premature to definitively confirm the nature of the event pending a comprehensive forensic report. Officials have also formally ruled out any link between this incident and the 7.5 kg of RDX recently recovered in the border region.

Train Services Suspended

As a precautionary measure to ensure passenger safety, rail traffic between Anupgarh and Suratgarh has been halted. This disruption has resulted in the following cancellations:

  1. Train Number 59711/12
  2. Train Number 59715/16

Security has been significantly heightened throughout the route as forensic experts continue to process the site for evidence.
