Sri Ganganagar Samastipur Special Train for Festive Rush
To manage the heavy passenger surge during the upcoming Diwali and Chhath Puja festivals, Indian Railways has introduced the new Sri Ganganagar Samastipur Special Train service. This initiative, announced by the East Central Railway, aims to provide much-needed travel convenience for passengers moving between Rajasthan and Bihar during the peak festive season.
Service Details and Frequency
The new service consists of two specific train numbers that will operate on a weekly basis. Both trains are scheduled to complete a total of seven trips each to accommodate the seasonal demand.
- 04731 Sri Ganganagar – Samastipur Special: This train will operate every Sunday, starting from October 18, 2026, until November 29, 2026. It is scheduled to depart from Sri Ganganagar Junction at 1:25 p.m. and reach Samastipur Junction at 11:15 p.m.
- 04732 Samastipur – Sri Ganganagar Special: The return service will run every Tuesday, commencing on October 20, 2026, and continuing until December 1, 2026.
Route and Major Station Stops
The special trains will cover an extensive route, passing through several key stations to serve commuters across multiple states. Major stops on this route include:
- Sadulshahar and Hanumangarh
- Sangaria, Mandi Dabwali, Rama, and Sirsa
- Mandi Adampur, Hisar, Hansi, and Rohtak
- Old Delhi, Ghaziabad, Moradabad, and Bareilly
- Sitapur, Burhwal, Gonda, and Basti
- Gorakhpur Junction and Deoria Sadar
- Siwan Junction, Chhapra Junction, Sonpur Junction, Hajipur Junction, and Muzaffarpur Junction
Coach Composition and Capacity
To ensure a comfortable journey for long-distance travelers, the train set has been configured with 20 coaches. The composition includes a variety of travel classes to cater to different passenger needs:
- AC 2-tier
- AC 3-tier
- Sleeper Class
This special arrangement, supported by both the North Western Railway and East Central Railway, is designed specifically to clear the festive rush and ensure smoother transit through high-traffic areas like Siwan Junction.
