The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has officially announced the launch of its highly anticipated “Sapta Jyotirlinga Mahayatra” pilgrimage circuit. Set to operate on the state-of-the-art Bharat Gaurav Deluxe AC Tourist Train, this spiritual journey is designed to offer a seamless travel experience for devotees across the country.
Key highlights of the tour include:
- Departure Date: September 25, 2026, from Delhi Safdarjung Railway Station.
- Duration: 10 nights and 11 days, concluding on October 5, 2026.
- Pilgrimage Sites: Mahakaleshwar, Omkareshwar, Nageshwar, Somnath, Bhimashankar, Grishneshwar, Trymbakeshwar, and the Dwarkadhish Temple.
- Pricing: Starts at ₹88,810 per person for triple occupancy in the Comfort (AC III) category.
- Capacity: Limited to 150 passengers to ensure comfort and personalized service.
A Comprehensive Pilgrimage Experience
This initiative, supported by the Ministry of Railways, aims to boost religious tourism by providing an all-inclusive travel package. The fare covers the entire train journey, accommodation in 3-star hotels, all-vegetarian meals, local transfers in AC vehicles, comprehensive travel insurance, and dedicated assistance from IRCTC Tour Managers. As part of the Bharat Gaurav scheme, Indian Railways has already factored in an approximately 33% concession into the pricing to make the pilgrimage more accessible.
Booking and Boarding Details
The train offers varied accommodation classes, ranging from Comfort AC III Tier to Superior AC I (Coupe), with prices reaching up to ₹1,34,255 per person for single occupancy in the premium category. Passengers can board or de-board the train at Delhi Safdarjung, Mathura Junction, Agra Cantt, Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi, and Bhopal Junction.
To maintain convenience, berth allocations will be finalized three days before departure, with a policy of assigning one lower berth for every two passengers. Interested travelers can secure their seats by booking directly through the official IRCTC website. Please note that standard cancellation policies apply, with deductions based on the proximity of the cancellation request to the departure date.
