Indian Railways increases sleeper coaches on Subedarganj Valsad Special

North Central Railway is enhancing passenger capacity on the popular Subedarganj-Valsad Special train to help travellers secure confirmed berths during high-demand periods. As announced by railway officials on September 7, 2026, an extra sleeper coach is being added to the train composition, increasing the total number of sleeper coaches from eight to nine. This capacity augmentation aims to ease the rush for long-distance commuters travelling between Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat.

The revised coach augmentation schedule will be implemented immediately for both directions of the service. Train number 04177 operating from Subedarganj will feature the additional sleeper coach starting from September 8, 2026. Meanwhile, the return service for train number 04178 running from Valsad will incorporate the extra sleeper coach beginning September 9, 2026.

Updated Train Composition and Coach Details

Following this latest modification, the revised train composition will comprise a total of 20 ICF coaches. Passengers booking tickets on this special service will now experience a slightly adjusted layout designed to accommodate more waitlisted and unconfirmed travellers.

The updated configuration consists of two SLR/D coaches, eight general class coaches, nine sleeper class coaches, and one air-conditioned three-tier 3AC coach. This thoughtful adjustment forms an integral part of Indian Railways' continuous efforts to effectively manage mounting passenger demand and significantly improve overall travel comfort on major long-distance routes across the network.
