New overbridge construction at Sudhiyani railway crossing receives approval

The path for the construction of a long-awaited overbridge at the Sudhiyani railway crossing has been officially cleared as of August 29, 2026. The project aims to alleviate traffic congestion and improve commuter convenience for daily travellers in the region. The infrastructure project is estimated to cost 90 crore rupees. The Uttar Pradesh Public Works Department has finalized the technical plans and cost estimations for this major development.
The Detailed Project Report has been forwarded to the state government to secure the necessary financial approval. Once the funds are allocated, the tendering process will commence, followed by the immediate start of construction work.
Bridge Dimensions and Location
Designed to resolve persistent transit issues, the proposed overbridge will span 750 meters in length and feature a width of 10 meters. The crossing is situated between Kaptanganj and Pipraich on the Gorakhpur-Narkatiaganj railway section. Officials expect that the completion of this bridge will significantly streamline vehicle movement and pedestrian safety in the region, bringing immense relief to locals who face daily delays at the crossing.
