Sultanpur railway station launches new vehicle parking facility to ease traffic congestion
Sultanpur Railway Station is all set to enhance passenger convenience by opening a brand new vehicle parking stand located right in front of the new station building. Chief Commercial Inspector (CMI) Vivek Tripathi has confirmed that the formal tender process for the facility is now complete and the stand will open shortly to help commuters avoid parking hassles and reduce traffic congestion around the station premises.

Parking Fees and Tariff Structure
To ensure transparent and regulated pricing for travellers, the authorities have announced a clear tariff for different types of vehicles. For four-wheelers, the parking fees are set at ₹20 for up to 2 hours, ₹30 for up to 6 hours, ₹40 for up to 12 hours, and ₹60 for up to 24 hours. Meanwhile, for three-wheelers, the rates are ₹12 for up to 2 hours, ₹15 for up to 6 hours, ₹20 for up to 12 hours, and ₹30 for up to 24 hours. Daily commuters can also opt for monthly parking passes available for ₹500. Additionally, for vehicles parked longer than 24 hours, an additional fee equivalent to the standard 12-hour charge will be applied for every subsequent 12-hour period.
Redevelopment Under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme
This passenger-centric initiative is an important part of the ongoing modernization of Sultanpur Junction under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The ambitious project has received an allocated budget of ₹36.85 crore to transform the terminal into a modern transit hub equipped with world-class amenities. The infrastructural upgrade of the station has seen continuous administrative oversight, featuring inspections by Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Manish Thapliyal in August 2023 ahead of the foundation stone laying ceremony, and by DRM Sunil Verma in July 2026, who reviewed construction progress and inaugurated a new running room for guards and drivers. Furthermore, local MP Maneka Gandhi has consistently advocated for these vital infrastructural upgrades to benefit the local population.
