Indian Railways Extends Supaul New Delhi Special Train Service Through November 30

Indian Railways has officially extended the operations of its special train service between Supaul and New Delhi to accommodate heightened passenger demand during the upcoming festive season. Announced on September 8, 2026, by Northern Railway, the extension ensures continued rail connectivity for passengers traveling to Bihar.
Here are the key highlights of the extended train service:
- Train number 04072 will operate daily from October 1, 2026, until November 28, 2026.
- Train number 04071 will operate daily from October 3, 2026, until November 30, 2026.
- The extension covers a total of 59 trips in each direction.
- Each train will run with a composition of 16 coaches.
Schedule and Timing Details
Under the extended schedule, Train number 04072 (New Delhi-Supaul Special) departs from New Delhi at 9:35 PM and arrives at Supaul at 6:35 AM the following day. On the return journey, Train number 04071 (Supaul-New Delhi Special) departs from Supaul at 7:45 AM and reaches New Delhi at 3:00 PM the following day. These services follow the conclusion of the previous operational period, which ended on September 30, 2026, for the New Delhi-Supaul service and October 2, 2026, for the return service.
Route and Coach Composition
The special train route connects New Delhi and Supaul Junction via several important intermediate stations, ensuring smooth travel across multiple regions. The major halts along the way include Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Tundla, Etawah, Govindpuri, Prayagraj, Gyanpur Road, Varanasi, Ghazipur City, Ballia, Chhapra, Sonpur, Hajipur, Barauni, Begusarai, Khagaria, Mansi, Simri Bakhtiyarpur, and Saharsa.
To accommodate the festive rush comfortably, each train set is configured with 16 coaches. This includes three AC 3-tier coaches, eight Sleeper Class coaches, four General Class coaches, and two SLR/D coaches. Passengers planning to travel during the festive season are advised to book their tickets well in advance through IRCTC to secure confirmed berths.
