Indian Railways is set to enhance connectivity between Gujarat and Rajasthan with the introduction of a brand-new Surat-Udaipur Vande Bharat Express service. The inaugural run of this high-speed train is scheduled for October 2, 2026, with Union Minister C.R. Patil expected to preside over the flagging-off ceremony.

Following the grand opening, regular commercial operations will begin from Udaipur on October 3, 2026, while services from Surat will commence on October 4, 2026. This new route is being operated by Western Railway and aims to provide a faster, more comfortable travel experience for passengers moving between these two major cities.

Train Schedule and Timings

The new service will cover a distance of roughly 530 kilometers, with an estimated travel time of approximately 7 hours and 30 minutes. The train is scheduled to run six days a week, remaining off-service every Tuesday.

  • Train No. 26903: Departs from Surat at 6:10 AM and arrives in Udaipur at 1:40 PM.
  • Train No. 26904: Departs from Udaipur at 3:35 PM and reaches Surat at 11:00 PM.

Route and Intermediate Stops

The Surat-Udaipur Vande Bharat Express will serve several key stations along the route, ensuring better connectivity for various towns and cities. The designated stops in both directions include:

  • Bharuch
  • Vadodara
  • Anand
  • Maninagar
  • Asarva
  • Himmatnagar
  • Shamlaji Road
  • Dungarpur
  • Zawar

Coach Details and Maintenance

To ensure a premium travel experience, the train will feature eight coaches, offering both Executive Chair Car and AC Chair Car accommodations. Primary maintenance for the rake will be conducted at Surat. Additionally, supplemental water-refilling facilities will be available at Vadodara and Asarva stations to assist passengers during the journey.

Booking Information and Service Changes

Passengers can book their tickets through the IRCTC website or at Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters. Booking for this new service officially opened on October 1, 2026.

It is important to note that the introduction of this new service will result in the discontinuation of the existing Udaipur City-Asarva Vande Bharat Express (Train No. 26963/26964), which has been in operation since February 2026.
