Swarnarekha Express Starts Operations From Adityapur!

The Swarnarekha Express Adityapur service has officially kicked off, marking a major shift in regional rail connectivity. As of October 1, 2026, the Swarnarekha Express (13301/13302) has successfully commenced its operations from the Adityapur Railway Station, providing a new terminal option for daily commuters.

This operational change was implemented following official directives from the Chakradharpur Division of the South Eastern Railway, acting under the formal approval of the Railway Board. While the terminal relocation for the Dhanbad-Tatanagar Swarnarekha Express was originally slated for February 6, 2026, the service has now officially transitioned to the new station.

Relieving Congestion at Tatanagar

The decision to move the terminal to Adityapur was strategically planned to address several key issues. One of the primary objectives is to alleviate passenger congestion at the busy Tatanagar Railway Station. By shifting the terminal, the railways aim to streamline operations and create necessary space for upcoming infrastructure redevelopment projects at Tatanagar.

The relocation has also been a long-standing demand from the South Eastern Railway Men's Union, which had been advocating for this terminal shift to improve operational efficiency and passenger convenience.

Inaugural Celebrations for Crew Members

To mark the first day of operations at the new terminal, a special program was organized at the Adityapur railway station and the running lobby. The event was held to warmly welcome the loco pilots and crew members who are spearheading this new service phase. The atmosphere at the station reflected the significance of this milestone for the Chakradharpur Division.
