Tadoki-Rowghat Rail Link Ready: Bastar Gets Connected
A massive leap in connectivity has been achieved for South Chhattisgarh as the final 17.5-kilometer stretch of the Tadoki-Rowghat rail section has been completed. This achievement marks a vital milestone in the ongoing 95-kilometer Dalli-Rajhara to Rowghat railway project, which is set to integrate the Bastar region into the national railway network.
The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) for the South Eastern Circle, Kolkata, Sumeet Singhal, recently finished the mandatory inspections and speed trials for the newly laid tracks. Following these successful tests, the CRS has authorized a maximum operational speed of 80 kilometers per hour for passenger trains. To bring this to fruition for commuters, a proposal has been submitted to the Railway Board to extend current passenger services from the Dalli-Rajhara-Tadoki route to Rowghat.
A Transformative Step for Bastar
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has lauded the project, describing it as a turning point for the progress of the Bastar region and South Chhattisgarh. He expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for their instrumental support in realizing this vision. Similarly, State Minister Kedar Kashyap noted that this new rail link will serve as a cornerstone for the socio-economic and industrial evolution of the region.
Strengthening Industry and Logistics
The project, which is being executed by the South East Central Railway (SECR) Raipur Division, is expected to yield numerous benefits, including:
- Improved access to healthcare and education.
- Enhanced employment opportunities for locals.
- Boosted trade and commercial activities.
- Streamlined logistics for the Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP).
The new line is particularly critical for the Bhilai Steel Plant, as it will significantly optimize the transportation of iron ore. This large-scale infrastructure development was made possible through the joint efforts of the Chhattisgarh state government and the Union Ministry of Railways, with substantial financial contributions provided by the BSP.
