The Ministry of Railways has given the green light to revive the historic Tarighat Railway Station. A budget of ₹11 crore has been released for this project, and the work is expected to be completed within four months. This station, which dates back to the British era, had been closed in February 2023 after a new station was built in Sonwal.

What is the plan for Tarighat Railway Station revival

The revival process started with a survey conducted by a two-member team in August 2025. Following the detailed report, the tender process was initiated in 2026. According to the Danapur Division of East Central Railway, the survey work was completed by March 9, 2026, and the tender process received official approval on March 11, 2026.

How will the station be developed and who will benefit

Railway officials stated that the layout of the entire yard will be modified. The development will happen in phases as detailed below:

  • First Phase: Construction of loading-unloading points and a goods blast siding.
  • Second Phase: Passenger train operations may start based on future requirements.

This move will provide significant relief to local traders and residents. It is expected that people from 52 villages in Ghazipur will benefit from the reopening of this station.
