Tatanagar-Deoghar Special & Extra Coaches for Diwali Rush
Indian Railways introduces Tatanagar-Deoghar special and extra coaches on major trains to manage Diwali and Chhath Puja passenger rush.

To accommodate the massive influx of passengers during the upcoming Diwali and Chhath Puja festivals, Indian Railways has announced significant service enhancements. This includes the introduction of the Tatanagar-Deoghar Special Train and the addition of extra coaches to several major express services to ease the festive rush.
New Tatanagar-Deoghar Special for Devotees
A major highlight of this festive plan is the launch of a new special train connecting Tatanagar and Deoghar. This service is specifically aimed at catering to devotees planning to visit Baba Baidyanath. The train will provide essential connectivity through several important stations, including:
- Asansol
- Rampurhat
- Sahibganj
- Bhagalpur
- Barahat
- Banka
Capacity Boost with Extra Coaches
Beyond the new special train, the Railways is augmenting existing services to manage the high volume of travelers. Approximately 39 extra coaches, including AC, sleeper, and general categories, will be added to 16 pairs of trains throughout the month of November.
One notable update involves the Howrah-Jamalpur-Howrah Kavi Guru Express (13015/13016). This service will be augmented with one additional General Second Class coach during the peak period:
- Departures from Howrah: Effective from November 4 to November 14.
- Departures from Jamalpur: Effective from November 5 to November 15.
Following this temporary festive arrangement, the Kavi Guru Express will return to its standard operation with 14 LHB coaches.
Additional Festive Special Trains
To further alleviate passenger congestion across different routes, other special services have been scheduled, such as:
- Tatanagar-Labha Special
- Shalimar-Darbhanga Special
