Tatanagar railway division arranges hotel stay for train crew due to running room bed shortage

Tatanagar railway authorities are arranging hotel accommodation for loco pilots and train managers because the local running room is facing a severe shortage of beds. Chakradharpur Division DRM Tarun Huriya proposed this temporary measure to ensure that crew members receive their mandatory rest in full compliance with safety regulations for train operations. The existing running room at Tatanagar currently offers 100 beds, but this capacity has become completely insufficient due to the rising number of crew members arriving from various important stations, including Kharagpur, Santragachi, Bilaspur, Muri, Anara, and Danguwaposi. Because strict railway protocols require pilots and guards to undergo compulsory rest periods before taking on their next duty assignment, this new hotel arrangement will successfully prevent disruptions to crew booking and help maintain smooth, safe train operations across the network.

Permanent Solution Under Construction

While the hotel arrangement provides an immediate fix to the ongoing capacity crunch, railway authorities are not stopping there. Construction work on a brand new and significantly expanded running room has already commenced at Tatanagar. This upcoming facility aims to provide a reliable, long-term solution to the persistent bed shortages and ensure that train operating staff always have comfortable and accessible resting spaces right on railway premises.
