Tatanagar Station Help Desk Opens Amid Cyclone Arnab Chaos
Tatanagar station sets up a help desk as Cyclone Arnab causes major train cancellations and diversions across South Eastern Railway zones.

Passengers traveling through the South Eastern Railway zone are facing significant hurdles as Cyclone Arnab continues to wreak havoc on rail operations. To assist commuters navigating the chaos of cancellations and route changes, a dedicated Tatanagar station help desk has been established following directives from the Chakradharpur Division.
Massive Train Cancellations and Route Diversions
The cyclonic storm, which has been impacting rail services since October 27, 2026, has led to widespread disruptions. As of October 30, the South Eastern Railway has been forced to cancel 10 pairs of trains. Specifically, 11 trains originating from Tatanagar have been completely cancelled, leaving many travelers stranded.
Major services to the following destinations have been severely affected:
- Kamakhya
- Secunderabad
- Chennai
In addition to cancellations, several services are being rerouted. The Howrah–Tiruchchirappalli Superfast Express (12663) has been diverted due to heavy waterlogging within the Visakhapatnam railway division. The train is currently running via Kharagpur, Tatanagar, and Jharsuguda.
Weather Alerts and Ongoing Disruptions
While Cyclone Arnab has weakened following its landfall, its aftermath continues to impede transit across the South Eastern, South Coast, South Western, and East Coast Railway zones. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Ranchi has issued a yellow alert for October 30, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy rainfall.
The alert covers several key districts, including:
- Garhwa
- Palamu
- Pakur
- Godda
- Sahibganj
How to Check Your Train Status
Railway authorities have warned that travel disruptions are not expected to end immediately and could persist until at least November 5, 2026. To avoid inconvenience, passengers are strongly urged to consult the National Train Inquiry System (NTES) or the official Indian Railways website for real-time status updates before planning their journeys.
