Indore-Dhar Connectivity: 130 km/h Trials Begin for Tihi-Dhar Section

The long-awaited passenger services on the 47-kilometer Tihi-Dhar rail section are nearing a major milestone. The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) for the Western Circle, E. Srinivas, has officially commenced a critical safety inspection of this vital stretch, paving the way for regular train operations.

Two-Phase Safety Audit Underway

To ensure the highest standards of passenger safety, the Tihi-Dhar rail section inspection is being conducted in two intensive phases:

  • Phase 1 (November 5): Officials are conducting a comprehensive examination of the rail infrastructure, including tracks, bridges, and supporting structures, primarily via trolley.
  • Phase 2 (November 6): The railway will execute high-speed trial runs, with trains expected to reach speeds of up to 130 km/h to verify the stability and capacity of the track.

These technical evaluations are scheduled to take place between 8:00 AM and 9:00 PM on both days.

A Major Milestone for Indore-Dahod Rail

This project represents a significant advancement in the broader Indore-Dahod rail development. Technical preparations have already shown great promise, including a successful four-phase speed trial on November 2, 2026, where an electric locomotive hit the 130 km/h mark. This test confirmed the readiness of both the tracks and the 25 kV AC overhead electrification system.

Furthermore, the construction of the 2.95-km tunnel near Tihi has been successfully completed, marking another key achievement for the project.

Safety Advisory for Local Residents

In light of the high-speed trials, the Ratlam Division of Western Railway has issued a formal safety advisory to the public. Residents and citizens are urged to:

  • Keep a safe distance from the railway tracks during the inspection period.
  • Ensure that all livestock are kept well away from the tracks during the scheduled hours.

Once the CRS safety audit is successfully completed and formal clearance is granted, the railway expects to launch regular passenger operations. The primary anticipated services will be MEMU trains running between Indore and Dhar.
