Train Alert: Massive Diversions for Barauni, New Delhi & Howrah Routes!
Indian Railways has announced significant operational changes, including major route diversions and partial cancellations, due to extensive non-interlocking (NI) and pre-NI work. These infrastructure projects are scheduled to take place between September 20 and October 4, 2026, across multiple divisions within the Northern and North Central Railway zones.
Why is this work being carried out?
The scheduled disruptions are part of essential infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving safety and capacity. Key projects include:
- Introduction of automatic signaling systems on the Gorakhpur-Gonda section.
- Commissioning of a third line between Gorakhpur Junction and Domingarh.
- Track doubling on the Gorakhpur-Nakaha Jungle stretch.
- Connecting the new Rajendra Rail Bridge to the main railway network.
Major Train Diversions and Schedule Changes
Barauni, Darbhanga, and New Delhi Routes
Several key services connecting Barauni and Darbhanga to New Delhi will bypass their regular routes and operate via Prayagraj Junction, Banaras, Varanasi, Aunrihar, and Chhapra on the following dates:
- 02563 Barauni-New Delhi Clone Special: September 22 to September 27.
- 02569/02570 Darbhanga-New Delhi: September 26.
- 02564 New Delhi-Barauni Clone Special: September 22 to September 26.
Howrah-Bound and Other Important Services
Passengers traveling towards Howrah or via the Eastern routes should note these specific changes:
- 13019 Howrah-Kathgodam Bagh Express & 13021/13022 Howrah-Raxaul Mithila Express: Between September 25 and October 4, these trains will run via the Bardhaman-Bolpur-Rampurhat-Sahibganj-Bhagalpur-Munger-Begusarai-Barauni route.
- 13019/13020 Bagh Express: Between September 22 and September 26, this service will operate via Bhatni-Mau-Varanasi City-Varanasi Junction-Ayodhya Cantt-Barabanki.
