Train operations resume at Prayagraj Rambagh after nine days of waterlogging

Train operations at Prayagraj Rambagh railway station returned to normal on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, after water was successfully cleared from the tracks. The restoration of services marks the end of a nine-day disruption caused by severe waterlogging following heavy rainfall that began around August 19, 2026.

Due to the submerged state of signal motors and ongoing drainage operations, passenger and MEMU train services were temporarily diverted to Jhunsi station starting August 20, 2026. North Eastern Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Sumit Kumar had previously confirmed the diversion, noting that continuous efforts were required to drain water that had accumulated in the station yard.

Impact on Regional Transit

Throughout the disruption, North Central Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Shivam Sharma clarified that other major transit points in the region, including Prayagraj Junction, Naini, and Prayagraj Chheoki, remained unaffected and continued to operate according to their regular schedules. With the tracks now cleared, trains have resumed their original routes, providing significant relief to local commuters and passengers.
