Train services are disrupted in Pratapgarh after a tree falls on high tension lines

Train operations faced significant disruptions near Pratapgarh on Thursday evening after a tamarind tree collapsed onto the railway tracks. Passengers travelling along this busy route experienced sudden delays as authorities rushed to secure the area and prevent any safety hazards.

• The incident took place at approximately 5:30 PM on Thursday at Antu Railway Station in Pratapgarh.
• A large tamarind tree fell onto the siding line and damaged an electric pole along with overhead wires carrying 25,000 volts of high-tension current.
• The contact caused visible sparks and smoke which led to an immediate halt in train operations.
• No casualties were reported in this unfortunate accident.
• Trains including the Lucknow-Varanasi Intercity Express and a goods train were temporarily halted at neighboring stations for safety.

Immediate Safety Actions and Restoration Work

As soon as the high-tension lines were damaged, railway authorities blocked the affected line to ensure passenger and staff safety. The Lucknow-Varanasi Intercity Express was stopped at Amethi, while a goods train was held back at Misrauli station. Local railway personnel and the Station Superintendent promptly arrived at the site to manage the unfolding situation and coordinate emergency responses.

Dedicated repair teams immediately went to work to clear the fallen tamarind tree from the tracks. Simultaneously, technical staff initiated the repair of the damaged electrical infrastructure.
