Indian Railways has announced significant operational adjustments for the Udaipur-Jaipur Intercity route to manage the anticipated surge in passengers during the upcoming Diwali festive season. These changes include both capacity enhancements to handle the rush and temporary service modifications due to essential track maintenance.
Extra Coaches to Manage Festive Demand
To accommodate the high volume of travelers between these two major Rajasthan cities, authorities have implemented temporary coach additions. Specifically, an additional Second Class General coach has been added to the Jaipur-Udaipur City-Jaipur service (Train Nos. 20993/20994).
This move follows the successful regularization of the Jaipur-Udaipur Superfast Express, which has been operating on a daily basis since April 2026, helping to eliminate extra fares previously associated with special train services.
Maintenance Work and Service Disruptions
While preparing for the festive period, the rail network is also undergoing critical infrastructure upgrades. Non-interlocking work required for track doubling on the Ajmer-Chanderiya railway section is currently underway, leading to temporary operational disruptions.
Passengers traveling between October 9 and October 11 should be aware of the following modifications to the 12992 Jaipur-Udaipur City Express:
- Route Modification: The train will terminate at Rana Pratap Nagar instead of its usual destination, Udaipur City.
- Departure Delays: The 12992 Jaipur-Udaipur City Express will also experience a two-hour departure delay from Jaipur Junction.
