New Udaipur-Kota MEMU Train Service Gets Green Light

The Ministry of Railways has officially sanctioned a new Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) train service to connect Udaipur City and Kota. This new rail link is designed to significantly enhance connectivity between the Mewar and Kota regions, providing a more efficient travel option for thousands of passengers.
Official Approval and Train Details
Following initiatives led by Member of Parliament Dr. Mannalal Rawat, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw formally conveyed the approval for this service. The new MEMU service will operate under the train numbers 61627 and 61628.
Key Stations Served
The new service is set to benefit several key locations along the route, ensuring improved access for residents in:
- Chittorgarh
- Chandariya
- Bundi
- Mandalgarh
A Lifeline for Students and Commuters
While the service will provide immense relief to general commuters, it is expected to be particularly beneficial for the student community. As Kota is a major educational hub, the new MEMU service will offer a reliable and affordable way for students traveling from the surrounding regions to reach their coaching centers and institutions.
Strengthening the Regional Network
The introduction of this service follows a series of recent rail infrastructure enhancements in the area. These include the introduction of Kota-Chaumahla and Bina-Kota MEMU services in early 2024, as well as the 2022 expansion of services from Sogaria railway station to destinations including Nagda, Jhalawar, and Bina. The official documentation for the new Udaipur-Kota service was granted on October 19, 2026.
