Udaipur-Surat Vande Bharat Express Starts Oct 3
Travelers connecting the Mewar region with South Gujarat are about to experience a major upgrade in rail connectivity. The Udaipur-Surat Vande Bharat Express is officially set to begin its regular operations on October 3, 2026.
Before the regular service kicks off, a special inaugural run has been scheduled for October 2, 2026. This maiden journey will depart from Surat at 10:00 a.m. and is expected to reach Udaipur City by 5:40 p.m. Passengers looking to secure their seats for the upcoming service can note that bookings officially opened on October 1, 2026.
Regular Schedule and Train Timings
Operated jointly by the Western Railway and North Western Railway zones, the new service will run six days a week. To ensure the highest standards of safety and performance, the train will undergo weekly maintenance every Tuesday.
The service, identified by train numbers 26903 and 26904, will cover the approximately 690-kilometer distance in about 7 hours and 30 minutes. Here are the scheduled timings for the regular operations:
- Train 26904 (Udaipur City to Surat): Departs Udaipur City at 3:35 p.m. and arrives in Surat at 11:00 p.m.
- Train 26903 (Surat to Udaipur City): Departs Surat at 6:10 a.m. and arrives in Udaipur City at 1:40 p.m.
Modern Amenities and Route Details
The Vande Bharat Express features a fully electric rake consisting of eight modern coaches. Passengers can choose between Executive Chair Car and AC Chair Car options, ensuring a premium travel experience. This new link is expected to be a boon for tourists, traders, and passengers traveling toward South India.
