Road commuters travelling through the Unnao district must plan alternative routes as the important railway crossing in Ganjmuradabad has been temporarily closed for three days starting from the morning of Sunday, September 6, 2026. This temporary shutdown has been implemented to carry out essential maintenance and repair work on the railway tracks and crossing infrastructure to ensure safe operations. According to official statements from O.B. Shukla, the in-charge of Mallawan Railway Station, the comprehensive maintenance activities are scheduled to wrap up by September 8, 2026, with the crossing officially expected to reopen for public traffic on September 9, 2026.
The three-day closure significantly impacts daily commuters and residents from several surrounding rural areas. Villages affected by this traffic restriction include Ganjjalalabad, Baraunki, Alapur Kot, Sultanpur Kot, Chakhanuman, Jatpur Belthara, Goa Patti, Haraipur, Chaholiya, Hayatnagar, Kapurpur, Pampapur, Azamkheda, Hasanapur, and Tajpur. To help motorists navigate around the work zone,
authorities have placed clear warning boards at the site to notify the public of the restricted access in advance.
Since the main crossing remains unavailable, locals and regular travellers must utilize a
four-kilometer detour. Traffic officials are specifically directing commuters toward the nearby railway underpasses located at Tajpur or Mehmoodabad. Passengers and vehicle owners are advised to factor in extra travel time when planning their daily journeys through this sector of Unnao until the repair work concludes and normal traffic resumes next week.
