Unnao Railway Update: 2 new overbridges to be built at Jhanjhri and Sindhupur crossings

Indian Railways will construct two large overbridges in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, to solve the long-standing problem of traffic jams. The project focuses on the Jhanjhri and Sindhupur railway crossings where thousands of vehicles get stuck daily. This move will make the city jam-free and ensure safer travel for local commuters.

The total budget for the construction of these two overbridges is ₹100 crore. Each bridge will cost approximately ₹50 crore to build. While the initial plan was to construct underpasses, the authorities have now decided to build overbridges to better handle the traffic flow.

How will this benefit the local traffic

Currently, about 10,000 to 12,000 vehicles pass through these crossings every day. Whenever the railway gates close, long queues form, leading to delays and a higher risk of accidents. The new overbridges will provide a continuous path for vehicles, eliminating the wait time at gates.
