UP Railway Upgrade: 36 Stations to Get New High-Level Platforms
Indian Railways is rolling out a major infrastructure overhaul across Uttar Pradesh to modernize station facilities. The North Central Railway (NCR) Prayagraj Division is spearheading a significant project to construct high-level platforms at 36 stations, aiming to revolutionize the passenger experience.
Enhancing Accessibility for All
The primary goal of this upgrade is to ensure seamless boarding and de-boarding for travelers. By raising platform levels, the Railways aims to provide much-needed convenience, particularly for senior citizens and Divyangjan passengers who often struggle with the gap between the train and the platform.
Project Scale and Current Status
The scale of this development is massive. According to Amit Kumar Singh, Public Relations Officer for the Prayagraj Division, the current scope involves 51 platforms under development. Looking ahead to the 2026-27 financial year, the project has been sanctioned for 39 stations, encompassing 55 platforms.
- Tenders Awarded: Work has already been tendered for 36 stations.
- Active Construction: Currently, construction is underway at 23 stations, covering 26 individual platforms.

Several key locations in Uttar Pradesh are set to see these improvements, including:
- Pahara
- Meja Road
- Gaipura
- Shujatpur
- Bamhrauli
- Kanwar
- Mainpuri
- Jaswantnagar
- Hathras Junction
- Jalesar Road
Timeline for Completion
The project is being executed in a staggered manner to ensure efficiency. While several platforms are targeted for completion in October and November 2026, the remaining works are scheduled throughout 2027. The entire sanctioned project is expected to be fully completed by December 2027.
