The state is seeing a huge jump in investment, with the 2026-27 budget allocation reaching a record ₹4,769 crore. Three new rail lines covering 216 km are sanctioned at a cost of ₹40,384 crore. The government has also approved surveys for narrow-gauge lines from Tanakpur to Bageshwar and Haldwani to Reetha Sahib.
