To tackle the massive surge in passenger numbers during the upcoming Diwali and Chhath Puja festivities, Indian Railways has announced a new Vande Bharat Festival Special service connecting Patna and New Delhi.
Travel in Comfort This Festive Season
The newly introduced service utilizes a high-speed 20-coach rake, specifically designed to provide a premium and comfortable travel experience for commuters traveling between Bihar and the national capital during the peak holiday period.
Train Schedule and Timings
The festive special will operate on specific days of the week to cater to the holiday rush:
- Train No. 02253 (Patna Junction to New Delhi): This train will depart from Patna every Saturday, Monday, and Wednesday at 10:00 AM, reaching New Delhi at 11:30 PM. This service will be operational from October 24 to November 28, 2026.
- Train No. 02254 (New Delhi to Patna Junction): This return service will depart from New Delhi every Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 8:35 AM, arriving in Patna at 9:30 PM. This service will run from October 22 to November 26, 2026.

The Vande Bharat Festival Special will provide connectivity to several important junctions along the route, including:

- Kanpur Central
- Prayagraj Junction
- Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction

"This initiative is designed to control festive crowds and provide a smoother, more comfortable travel experience for passengers commuting between the capital and Bihar," stated Dr. Shivam Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of North Central Railway.
