What’s inside:
Two Vande Bharat trains were on the same platform in Jodhpur, causing confusion for passengers heading to Delhi.
On Wednesday morning, there was a mix-up at Jodhpur railway station when two Vande Bharat Express trains arrived on the same platform. This confusion happened at Platform No. 5, where both trains were parked, leading to some passengers getting on the wrong train.
Nine passengers who meant to travel to Delhi accidentally boarded the Sabarmati Vande Bharat train instead of the one going to Delhi. They realized their mistake only after the train reached Pali-Marwar Junction, by which time the Delhi train had already left.
To help the affected passengers, railway officials arranged alternative travel. They brought the passengers back to Jodhpur and then sent them to Delhi on three different trains: the Salasar-Delhi Express, the Marudhar Express, and the Ranikhet Express, using their original Vande Bharat tickets.
This confusion mainly happened because both trains were on the same platform but at different ends. The Delhi-bound train was saffron in color, while the Sabarmati train was white. Despite staff announcements, some passengers missed the details and boarded the first train they saw.
Starting from Thursday, the railway will change the platforms for these two trains to avoid such mix-ups in the future. An internal inquiry will also take place to check the availability of announcements and staff on the platforms to prevent similar incidents.
Summary:
- Two Vande Bharat trains were on the same platform in Jodhpur.
- Nine passengers boarded the wrong train to Delhi.
- They were later redirected to their destination by other trains.
- Train colors contributed to the confusion for passengers.
- Platform changes will be made to avoid future mix-ups.
