This article shares the news about increasing the train speed between Malda and Kiul from 110 km/h to 130 km/h after improvements.
The East Railway Malda division is working to increase the train speed on the Malda to Kiul route. The speed will go up from 110 km/h to 130 km/h. This change is expected to happen after the Chhath festival.
Construction work on a subway will begin soon after the festivities. Along with this, the old and damaged railway tracks and sleepers are being replaced. The work has already started from the third line at Jamalpur station.
The plan is to complete these upgrades by March 2026, allowing trains to run faster. Currently, around 128 goods and passenger trains run between Bhagalpur and Kiul every day.
Train speeds are limited to 110 km/h due to safety measures and the ongoing subway construction. However, high-speed trains like the two Rajdhani Express, Amrit Bharat Express, and Vande Bharat Express are already operating smoothly on this route.
As for the next steps, all necessary work, including track repairs and subway construction, is in progress. Once completed, train schedules will also be updated to reflect the new speed. The railway administration aims to improve travel efficiency for passengers.

- Train speed between Malda and Kiul will increase to 130 km/h.
- Work on subway construction will start after the Chhath festival.
