Indian Railways has made significant changes to ticketing rules to make train travel more comfortable for passengers.
Indian Railways has recently announced some important changes to make train journeys better for passengers. This change will affect certain trains, particularly regarding the RAC ticket system.
From now on, some select trains will no longer offer RAC tickets, which means passengers won’t have to share half a seat anymore. The Vande Bharat Express sleeper coaches will not have RAC tickets available at all.
According to the new rules, for the Vande Bharat sleeper, the minimum travel distance is set to 400 km. Only confirmed tickets will be issued for this train, and there will be no RAC, waitlist, or partially confirmed tickets allowed.
The fare for sleeper class will now require a minimum charge for at least 200 km, which is 149 rupees. For second class, the minimum fare is set at 50 km, costing 36 rupees. Reservation charges will apply separately for all trains.
Additionally, sleeper class will now have limited quotas for women, differently-abled persons, and senior citizens. Lower berths will be prioritized for senior citizens and those traveling with children, based on availability.
