भारतीय रेलवे एक नया कदम उठाने जा रहा है। आईआरसीटीसी ने वंदे भारत, बेंगलुरु राजधानी और शताब्दी ट्रेनों में बायोडिग्रेडेबल थालियों का इस्तेमाल शुरू करने का फैसला किया है। यह बदलाव मार्च से लागू होगा।

इन ट्रेनों में अब यात्रियों को प्लास्टिक प्लेट के बजाय बायोडिग्रेडेबल थाली में खाना मिलेगा। इससे हर महीने 50,000 से ज्यादा थालियों के जरिए 300 किलोग्राम से अधिक प्लास्टिक की बचत होगी।


मार्च से शुरू होकर, पहले वंदे भारत, शताब्दी और बेंगलुरु राजधानी एक्सप्रेस में यह बदलाव होगा। इसके बाद, बाकी प्रीमियम और लंबी दूरी की ट्रेनों में भी प्लास्टिक प्लेट को हटाकर बायोडिग्रेडेबल प्लेट्स का उपयोग किया जाएगा।

बायोडिग्रेडेबल थालियाँ सब्जियों, फलों के छिलकों और कागज जैसे प्राकृतिक तत्वों से बनाई जाती हैं। ये थालियाँ तीन से छह महीने में पूरी तरह से नष्ट हो जाती हैं, जबकि प्लास्टिक प्लेट को नष्ट होने में 400 से 500 साल लगते हैं।


इस बदलाव से भारतीय रेलवे का प्लास्टिक मुक्त परिसर बनाने का लक्ष्य पूरा होगा। यात्रियों के लिए यह एक अच्छी खबर है, जिससे पर्यावरण को भी लाभ होगा।
