New rules by Indian Railways to stop overcharging by vendors in trains.
Indian Railways is making it tougher for vendors to charge extra from passengers. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has introduced a new system to prevent this issue.
Under this new setup, vendors on premium trains will be given new uniforms. These uniforms will have a helpline number printed on them, allowing passengers to directly file complaints.
IRCTC has taken this step due to increasing complaints from travelers. Vendors will also receive a special card that will have two QR codes on it for easy access to information.
The first QR code lets passengers see the official prices of food and drinks, helping them avoid overcharging. The second QR code is for digital payments, which will reduce issues with change and cash transactions.
This new system has started with the Rajdhani and Vande Bharat high-speed trains. IRCTC plans to roll it out to other trains in the future to further improve service.
