Belagavi’s MP Jagadish Shettar recently met railway officials in Hubballi on November 17, to push for faster progress on railway projects in the Belagavi district of Karnataka. He emphasized the importance of completing these projects on time.
During the meeting, officials informed him that most of the land needed for the new Belagavi–Kittur–Dharwad railway line has been acquired. Only about 16 acres are still pending, and the work will start once the land is officially transferred to the railway department.
Shettar also mentioned a proposal for a new railway line connecting Lokapura, Ramadurga, Savadatti, and Dharwad. This line aims to help people visiting temples in those areas. He urged the officials to get the necessary approvals from the Railway Board as soon as possible.
In addition, he asked officials to finish the second lane of the railway over-bridge near the Tilakwadi second gate in Belagavi. He promised to coordinate with police to manage traffic and ensure the work is completed efficiently.
Shettar noted that there have been complaints about slow progress at Belagavi Railway Station, which is being upgraded under the Pradhan Mantri Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. He also received requests for new train services and changes in train timings to better serve passengers.
