The Kamakhya to Howrah Vande Bharat Sleeper train has officially started its regular operations, connecting Assam and West Bengal with high speed comfort. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the service from Malda Town on January 17, 2026. This train covers a distance of approximately 970 km in 14 hours, providing a significant upgrade over traditional express trains for business travelers and tourists. The train operates six days a week, making long distance travel more convenient and modern for regular commuters.
Ticket Prices and Coach Composition
The train features a 16 coach setup including 11 AC 3-tier coaches, 4 AC 2-tier coaches, and 1 AC First Class coach. The total passenger capacity is 823. The fare structure has been kept competitive compared to air travel on the same route. Here is the approximate fare including catering charges:

Route and Schedule Information
Train number 27575 leaves Howrah every day except Thursday at 6:20 PM and reaches Kamakhya the next morning at 8:20 AM. The return train, 27576, leaves Kamakhya every day except Wednesday at 6:15 PM and reaches Howrah at 8:15 AM. The train stops at several important stations along the way to serve more passengers:
- Howrah, Bandel, Nabadwip Dham, and Katwa
- Azimganj, New Farakka, and Malda Town
- Aluabari Road, New Jalpaiguri (NJP), and Jalpaiguri Road
- New Cooch Behar, New Alipurduar, and New Bongaigaon
- Rangiya and Kamakhya (Guwahati)
The train is equipped with the Kavach anti-collision system and CCTV surveillance for enhanced safety. After the successful launch of this route, the Ministry of Railways has announced that the next sleeper service will be introduced between Delhi and Amritsar in the winter of 2026.
