Kerala will soon have its third Vande Bharat train service, connecting Bengaluru and Ernakulam. This service is expected to start by mid-November, giving a much-needed option for Malayalis traveling between these two cities.
The Railway Minister has announced the re-launch of this service, which was stopped in 2024 around the Onam festival due to a lack of extension notification. Now, it’s back with updated timings, aiming to make travel easier for everyone.
The train will leave Bengaluru at 5 am and reach Ernakulam by 2 pm. On the way back, it is expected to arrive in Bengaluru by 11 pm. This train will make six stops along the route, including Thrissur, Palakkad, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode, and Salem.
This new schedule will cut down the travel time significantly from 13 hours to under 9 hours. This is a big relief for passengers who often face long journeys between these cities.
Former minister Rajeev has thanked the Central Government for bringing this train service back, highlighting how important it is for Keralites living in Bengaluru. The official launch is anticipated in just a few weeks.
