This article talks about the introduction of the Vande Bharat Sleeper train on the Mangaluru–Thiruvananthapuram route in Kerala.
The Indian Railways is planning to introduce the Vande Bharat Sleeper Service on the busy Mangaluru–Thiruvananthapuram route. This route is known for being fully booked throughout the year, no matter the season.
Recently, MP M.K. Raghavan met the Union Railway Minister to discuss the need for sleeper services on several key routes in Kerala. The minister showed interest specifically in the Mangaluru–Thiruvananthapuram route, indicating that the new service could start soon.
Currently, Kerala operates two Vande Bharat trains: one from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram via Kottayam and another from Mangaluru to Thiruvananthapuram via Alappuzha. Due to high demand, the number of coaches on the Kasaragod train was increased to accommodate more passengers.
The new sleeper service is expected to attract more travelers looking for comfort and speed. It will also help those on waiting lists for other trains to secure tickets more easily.
All the current stops made by the existing Vande Bharat trains will also be included in the sleeper version. This is a significant step to enhance travel options for passengers on this popular route.
