India is all set to see its first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train starting this Saturday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off this train from the Malda Town railway station in West Bengal, which will run between Howrah and Guwahati.

Safety is a top priority for this event, so security has been tightened not just in Malda but also in Sahibganj, Jharkhand, and nearby railway areas. The rail authorities are on high alert as the Prime Minister’s visit approaches.


For the passengers, this new sleeper train aims to make long-distance travel more comfortable. The regular service for this train will begin on January 18, running through various significant stops like Nabadwip Dham, New Jalpaiguri, and Kamakhya.

The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train will feature sleeper coaches along with AC-1, AC-2, and AC-3 classes. It boasts modern safety features like the ‘Kavach’ automatic train protection system and has a design that reflects Indian culture.


On January 17, PM Modi will arrive in Malda around 12:45 PM to launch the train and later inaugurate several infrastructure projects worth over ₹3,250 crore. This should enhance transportation and connectivity in the region significantly.
