The Indian Railways has approved the first 16-coach Vande Bharat sleeper train and plans for modern passenger holding areas at key stations.
The Indian Railways has recently given the green light for the country’s first 16-coach Vande Bharat sleeper train. This is a big step towards modernizing the railway system in India.
However, the Ministry of Railways has pointed out some serious issues regarding the train’s design and features. Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has also approved a plan to create permanent passenger holding areas at 76 major railway stations across the country to improve convenience for travelers.
Some of the major stations that will have these new facilities include Mumbai CSMT, Howrah, Nagpur, and Pune. This decision comes after the success of a similar holding area at New Delhi Railway Station.
The Ministry has instructed that all safety standards set by the Research Design and Standards Organization (RDSO) must be followed. The train will only start operating once it gets final approval from the Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety.
In addition, emergency training will be provided to drivers and guards to quickly open train couplers when needed. The aim is to enhance passenger safety and comfort in the new sleeper train.
